Purpose:
Perfomring necessary duties under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the transfer of patients onto bed or litter and transports patients as necessary.
  • Assists with needs of the Anesthesia department.
  • Assists with orientation of new employees as needed.
  • Checks for outdated supplies, reorders and stocks areas as necessary.
  • Completes ongoing age specific competency validation via defined mechanisms
  • Demonstrates flexibility in response to unexpected changes in the workload and/or emergency situations.
  • Employee complies with established occupation exposure policies.
  • Maintains proper traffic control in OR suite.
  • Maintains working knowledge of instruments and equipment and their appropriate locations.
  • Performs all assigned housekeeping duties to insure a clean, neat and sanitary work area within the Surgery Center.
  • Prepares and assembles special items or packs to meet the needs of the OR.
  • Processes and cares for instruments and other equipment and prepares them for sterilization or storage appropriately.
  • Runs errands as required. Carries out other related activities as requested.
  • Runs, maintains and tests autoclaves appropriately. Performs all duties relative to decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and dispatch in an acceptable and satisfactory manner according to established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Supports Surgery Center based quality assessment activities by actively participating in the continuous performance improvement process.

Qualifications

Education and formal training required: High school graduate or GED diploma. Satisfactory completion of an approved training program for nursing assistant. Must maintain CPR certification. Experience Required: None.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Act 31 Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
