We are currently hiring a Senior Human Resources Assistant.  This position is an extension of the HR department and will provide administrative and support services for Human Resources Department in the areas of recruitment and/or general human resources support such as exit interviews, leave of absences, unemployment compensation, and corrective actions. Provide basic information to visitors and employees and direct inquiries as needed to other employees or resources.

  • Assist in corrective action planning preparation.
  • Assist with all equity market reviews. Pull files, review resumes, document relevant experience, create spreadsheet, for any equity analysis questions.
  • Coordinate HR training sessions and deliver Leave of Absence (LOA) section of training.
  • Coordinate exit interview process: schedule appointments, prepare and send exit interview paperwork/letters and forward results to corporate once completed. Keep updated spreadsheet of all exit interview activity. Conduct exits interviews as needed.
  • Greet visitors, answer telephones and respond to basic human resources questions and requests from employees and visitors or refers to other human resources staff or UPMC resources as appropriate.
  • Perform complex queries for metric management.
  • Prepare Unemployment Compensation questionnaires and UC 45s. Attend UC hearings as required.
  • Prepare disbursement requests, obtain approval, and forward to Accounts Payable. Make copies and maintain files.
  • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Department. Maintains calendar, coordinate meetings, maintain staff meeting minutes.
  • Provide quality administrative and support services, including the ordering of office supplies, scheduling of Retirement Teas, assure timely processing of mail and fax inquiries, and maintain bulletin board and door postings.
  • Provide recruitment support.
  • Read policy and develop training presentations. Ability to answer basic policy questions. Serve as backup trainer when needed.


  • High School diploma or equivalent with three years of progressively responsible administrative experience (Human Resources environment preferred) or Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business or related field one year of applicable experience required.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft is preferred.
  • Proficiency in office administrative skills, organizing and setting priorities, maintaining confidentiality, and customer service skills required.
