UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time Occupational Medicine Technician [Medical Assistant] to help support the Employee Health Department for its Shadyside location. This is a Monday through Friday daylight position.

The successful candidate will manage both clerical and technical support to the employee health clinic / department. Provide direct and indirect care to UPMC employees and staff for pre-placement medical evaluations, medical surveillance testing, immunizations and TB skin testing. Assume primary responsibility for entering and maintaining the employee health database.


  • Appropriately direct employee questions and care.
  • Assist in provision of vaccinations and medical surveillance program testing.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of employee medical records.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and follow-up.
  • Assist with the collection and coordination of pre-placement lab work, urine collection and TB skin testing.
  • Assume responsibility for supporting cost containment of the program.
  • Enter data into the employee health software database program.
  • Operate office equipment including phone, voice mail, photocopier, FAX machines, and computer system.
  • Perform basic reception duties including answering phones, message distribution, phone system functioning, and employee greeting.
  • Perform phlebotomy and substance abuse testing.
  • Support quality improvement and service oriented initiatives of the organization.



  • High school diploma.
  • 2 years clinical experience preferred.
  • Background in occupational / employee health preferred.
  • Clinical experience (phlebotomy, injections, specimen collection) preferred.

Salary Range: $13.71 to $21.49 / hour
