Frustrated by the current healthcare system? Looking for an opportunity to make a difference? Join us as we strive to develop a better approach in conjunction with America’s largest academic healthcare system.

Designated by the John A. Hartford Foundation as a National Center of Excellence in Geriatrics, the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) has more than two dozen geriatricians. Pitt is ranked among the nation’s top 5 in NIH funding, while US News and World Report rates both its healthcare system and our Geriatrics Division routinely in the nation’s top ten. In addition, Pittsburgh has been named America’s Most Livable City, Best Arts City, and Best Urban Adventure City, and it remains one of the most affordable and best places to live and work.

The Division’s success has been facilitated by the extraordinary support of the university and UPMC Health System. Both are committed not only to advancing the frontiers of geriatric knowledge but also to using such knowledge to develop and test innovative solutions to geriatric care. This has permitted us to garner competitive funding, including a $20 million CMS/CMMI Innovations award, and to pioneer new programs that meet the “Triple Aim” in every geriatric care setting. The excitement of these efforts spills over into our teaching and has generated an outpouring of innovative educational programs, including a medical school “major” in geriatrics, a new inter-professional training program, a geriatrics “track” in the residency, and an award-winning CME program that annually attracts >500 attendees. These clinical and training efforts also benefit from a research program in aging that is one of the country’s largest and most diverse.

The UPMC Division of Geriatric Medicine is seeking a new leadership position, Clinical Chief, to join their growing team!  The ideal candidate will have faculty experience in an academic program and at least 5 years of practice experience.  The Clinical Chief will oversee inpatient, outpatient, long term care, and telemedicine within the Pittsburgh area.  Work locations will vary between UPMC Presbyterian, UPMC Shadyside and the Benedum Geriatric Center.
