Description

The Clinical Program Director, Tower JV supports the Senior Director, Clinical & Business Development in activities associated with their day-to-day responsibilities, clinical and operational initiatives and special projects that will assist in the development of the Tower Health joint venture. This position will work directly with clinical and executive leadership to operationalize clinical programs and delegated functions. This Monday-Friday daylight role will require occasional travel to Eastern PA. 

Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the coordination and implementation of such improvement strategies and plans.
  • Apply clinical expertise in the operation and oversight of the joint venture working jointly with the Sr. Director of Clinical & Business Development for the Tower JV
  • Collaborate with Tower JV leadership and stakeholders to operationalize quality initiatives to meet business needs of the Tower Health joint venture. Direct and execute creative analytic approaches. 
  • Create new or adapt existing methods and tools to solve problems in conjunction with leadership. 
  • Monitor dashboard indicators and quality initiatives to meet goals and develop action plans to address specific concerns and improve quality. 
  • Supports and encourages involvement of stakeholders in the development of initiatives. 
  • Gather and aggregate data for reports, presentations, and handouts.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with Tower JV leadership, UPMCHP leadership, clinical staff, and other key stakeholders. Demonstrate ability to create a shared vision, apply critical thinking skills, and utilize clinical, financial, and quality data in the development of the vision and operational plan. 
  • Orchestrate complex change and involve key stakeholders and experts in planning, designing, and redesigning change. 
  • Use appropriate interpersonal styles and techniques to gain acceptance of ideas/plans; modifying own behavior to accommodate tasks, situations, and individuals involved.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships internally and externally by building project teams and relationships through mentoring and modeling positive communications. 
  • Extends trust by acknowledging the contributions of others. 
  • Creates transparency in communications and sets/clarifies expectations. 
  • Conveys information and ideas clearly through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.

  • Perform fact-finding and analyses related to operational initiatives and special projects as assigned. Provide oversight/supervision of analyst staff on complex projects as requested.
  • Provide skills necessary for implementation and ongoing support for of clinical and operational projects, initiatives, and delegated functions
  • Research and summarize industry and environmental trends as well as other regulatory requirements/issues as requested. 
  • Assist in the assessment of UPMC/Tower JV operations and make recommendations regarding opportunities for improvement.
  • Set high standards of performance for self and others by imposing standards of excellence and development of inquiry skills that are innovative, optimistic, and supportive of professional growth. 
  • Establish a mentoring environment. Analyze the needs of the joint venture and work with Tower Health JV leadership to address these needs.
  • Supports the Senior Director, Project Management in carrying out her day-to-day responsibilities. Assist in recruitment of analyst staff.
  • Travel to Eastern Pennsylvania and onsite at Tower Health as needed is required

Qualifications

  • Masters degree nursing, business, or healthcare management or related field is required. 
  • 5 to 7 years of progressively increasing operational experience in a corporate/professional environment required, preferably in healthcare 
  • RN Licensure Required 
  • Quality and/or Utilization Management experience highly preferred 
  • Managed care experience preferred but not required 
  • NCQA, HEDIS, Stars, and Regulatory experience preferred but not required 
  • Strong process management, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written). 
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to effectively create relationships with clinical and executive leadership in both written and verbal communication. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priority projects concurrently. 
  • Ability to perform planning for large initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to the business needs within budget and targeted deadlines. 
  • Able to function in a complex environment. Must be flexible. 
  • Must have strong computer skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. 
  • Managerial experience preferred but not required
