The Research Associate - "Mon-Yough Healthy Aging Team" will be responsible for subject recruitment (ages 65 and older), scheduling and conducting home visits (including neuropsychological testing, physical and neurological exam and blood draw), follow-up telephone calls, medical record abstraction as needed, completing Clinical Dementia Ratings, and participating in consensus conferences. This position is located in White Oak, PA.
This position is 100% grant funded.


Assist in the execution of research protocols and services.

  • Assist with recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).
  • Maintain accurate documentation.
  • Recruit participants via telephone calls using proper research protocol
  • Schedule appointments according to protocol.
  • Conduct 4-5 home assessments per week according to research guidelines, which include accuracy and competency in: 
    • obtaining informed consent
    • collecting data
    • performing physical/neurological examination under supervision of Program Manager
    • assessing medication use under supervision of Program Manager
    • conducting neuropsychological testing
    • follow research protocol for cash participant payments
  • Obtaining blood samples
  • Keep retention of participants a priority.
  • Adhere strictly to the Universal Precaution standards
  • Maintain and respect participants’ confidentiality at all times. 
  • Deal with clinical issues that arise from the assessments in a sensitive, professional manner, and report details to appropriate personnel.
  • Complete accurate coding, scoring, and Clinical Dementia Rating for each subject preferably on the same day as visit or at least within 1-2 days of the visit.
  • Conduct follow-up phone calls according to research guidelines.
  • Abstract medical record data as need arises.
  • Participate in consensus conferences as scheduled by Program Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records/logs of work completed.
  • Communicate effectively with Program Manager, Office Manager, and Oakland staff
  • Demonstrate ability to work as a team member.
  • Demonstrate motivation, judgment and initiative appropriately.
  • Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.


Bachelors degree required preferably in psychology or related field. Familiarity with computers and common software packages required. Prior related work experience in a research setting preferred. Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
