The MTN is an HIV/AIDS clinical trials network established in 2006 by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, with co-funding from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the National Institute of Mental Health, all components of the U.S. National Institutes of Health. The MTN brings together international investigators and community and industry partners whose work is focused on the rigorous evaluation of promising microbicides – products applied inside the vagina or rectum to prevent the sexual transmission of HIV – and of dual-purpose products for preventing both HIV and unintended pregnancy. Dr. Rohan’s Research Lab focuses on design of drug delivery systems and drug product development.

Project Manager will assist Dr. Rohan with Administrative and Project oversight within the Central Lab. The Project Manager will assist with any vendor qualifications and monitoring required for Central Lab activities. They will also monitor and ensure that Central Lab support for the MTN is being conducted in an efficient and appropriate manner. This may involve participation on calls with vendors or other Central Lab components and tracking of timelines for needed activities. These activities will be reported to the PIs on a monthly basis or more frequently if needed. The Project Manager will assist with working with sponsors, NIAID, and regulatory bodies to ensure documentation and responses are provided in a timely and appropriate manner. The Project Manager will assist with ensuring that components within the laboratory core are efficiently relaying information within the Central Lab to ensuring quality aspects of performance and processes. The Project Manager will coordinate communications within the Central lab and will obtain and maintain monthly updates and participate in the monthly Central Lab teleconference.

This position is grant funded. 

This Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes comprehensive management of a multi-disciplinary research team and/or management of the execution and coordination of a multi-center academic trial projects, inclusive of pre- and post- award activities, assuring compliance with external regulatory agencies, funding agencies reporting requirements. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills and effective communication skills to interact with clinical site personnel, funders and research and medical staff. This position will work standard business hours Monday through Friday.

  • Communicates the status of the projects on a regular basis to the principal investigator and stakeholder teams.
  • Follows appropriate research policies and procedures including all applicable laws and regulations and maintains scientific integrity including accurate data storage.
  • Project Execution - Responsible for the organization and execution of research protocols with the proper allocation of resources, budget, milestones, deliverables and adherence to research protocol requirements.
  • Project Scope - Complexity of Work - Manages activities associated with multiple projects or part of a larger program.
  • Strategy & Resource Management (planning and initiation) - The Project Manager, in support of the project sponsor, is responsible for multiple clinical research projects. The Project Manager directs and monitors the work efforts on a daily basis, focusing on scope, budget, quality, schedule, risks, issues and resources needed to complete the work.


  • Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences or Medical Technology. 
  • Masters degree in health sciences or related area strongly preferred. 
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in healthcare or research administration including previous experience managing NIH research grants. 
  • Previous supervisory experience required. 
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office programs required. 
  • Analytical and organizational ability necessary to identify technical resources and provide effective administrative and personnel management in assigned area. 
  • Interpersonal ability necessary to deal effectively with all levels of staff.
