Perform field rotation beginning with observation and progressing to patient contact, EMT assessments and assisting with patient treatment. All tasks and patient contact will be under the direction of the Paramedic.

Responsibilities:


  • Assume responsibility for personal development and education.
  • Commit to high quality, safe work; encourage others to have similar standards. Identify processes/systems that could lead to inefficient practices, unsafe conditions, errors or adverse events. Avoid shortcuts to ensure quality and safety measures are not circumvented. Encourage patient and family involvement in processes involving patient safety. Understand that patient safety is everyone's responsibility. Assume responsibility for personal education and performance related to patient safety; report unsafe conditions or events immediately; speak up in a non confrontational and educational manner when seeing a safety breech; develop or participate in a project or action plan to reduce risk or mitigate harm for patients, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate in a manner tailored to the patient's age, language and ability to understand.
  • Know and follow all organizational/departmental policies/procedures.
  • Orient to the department operation and perform various operational tasks as under the direction of the mobile intensive care unit in an educational role.
  • Perform field rotation to include: patient contact, assessments, performing vital signs, basic life support (BLS) treatment, patient lifting and moving and transporting patients under the direction of the Paramedic.
  • Perform vehicle and equipment checks under the direction of the mobile intensive care unit.
  • The service partner communicates with patients who have vision, language, hearing or cognitive challenges in a manner that meets their needs.
  • The service partner completes education and training as related to patient population served.
  • The service partner has knowledge of and can access hearing, language, and vision tools as necessary.

 

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required to be enrolled in a PA Department of Health EMT training course. Volunteer fire, EMS or Emergency Services experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.


Must be enrolled in an EMT program.

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Driver's License
