Description

Purpose:
Assesses all aspects of auditory functions and implements a plan of auditory therapy for those with auditory dysfunction.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses the child for candidacy for hearing assistive technology e.g. hearing aids, cochlear implants, and develops a comprehensive, culturally-appropriate audiologic habilitation management plan regarding the fitting and dispensing of assistive hearing technology.
  • Assists in orienting and training of new staff.
  • Counsels family members concerning the special needs of children with hearing loss to effectively involve parents and other family members in the treatment and management of hearing dysfunction.
  • Determines precise nature of hearing loss through administration and interpretation of behavior.
  • Ensures patient safety, and Rrefers patient for additional testing and treatment according to professional standards of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), American Academy of Audiology (AAA), hospital policy, and previous clinical experience; participates with other members of the health care/rehabilitation team in the development of re/habilitative programs for patients.
  • Maintains current knowledge of safety procedures within the Hospital and department.
  • Performs clinical assessment and/or intervention at specified productivity levels set by the director.
  • Prepares reports of findings, interpretation of test results, recommendations and potential outcomes.
  • Remains abreast of developments in the field by pursuing a program of self development.
  • Supports the teaching and research missions of the hospital.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Audiology or equivalent required. Analytical ability to evaluate hearing dysfunction, develop habilitative plans and evaluate progress.
  • Pediatric experience preferred 
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate effectively with patients, family members and staff members. Ability to observe and accurately collect and interpret clinical data.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • American Speech Language Hearing Association
  • Licensed Clinical Audiologist

Salary Range: $23.62 to $39.11
