Description

Our lab studies brain development during adolescence and young adulthood and how it is related to mental health problems such as depression and substance use. There are several ongoing studies, including one on brain stimulation, and all of them use neuroimaging and clinical interviewing. The lab has a strongly collegial, team-based culture. We value conscientiousness, dignity and respect for all, and a commitment to the goals of the group.

The employee will be managing projects and people across several different studies. Ability to anticipate challenges and take initiative to solve problems is very important, as is attention to quality. Seeing the big picture of each study and the lab overall, supervising staff respectfully, conducting quality assurance, and keeping everything running smoothly are key activities of the position.

There will be some management of others (with HR responsibilities), interaction with families who have mental health problems, work with the IRB to keep studies running properly and ethically, and coordination across labs and departments (e.g., with collaborators, with the MR Center, with the Sleep lab).

The ideal person has enthusiasm for lab operations and mental health research. They are able to see the big picture and set priorities but also understand which details need to be attended to.
