Description

UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time Return to Work Coordinator to help support the WorkPartners Leave/Disability Department for its downtown Pittsburgh location at the US Steel Tower. This is a Monday through Friday daylight position.


The Return to Work Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the management of return to work situations for employees with both occupational and non-occupational injuries, illnesses and/or disabilities that require accommodation under the American's with Disability Act. Working in conjunction with the Disability Management Team the Return to Work Coordinator will facilitate return to work by identifying placement opportunities, coordinating placement and completing required employee and supervisor forms, and managing the case to completion, in compliance with federal, state, local laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise employees about benefits and entitlements, including the services of the Return to Work Assistance Program, STD, Leave and ADAAA programs.
  • Arrange or conduct appropriate medical, vocational and work capacity assessments.
  • Collect information and suggestions from the employee, all stakeholder groups, health providers and community resources to identify how the work environment can be adopted to fit the capacity of the worker with a temporary or permanent impairment.
  • Coordinate all ongoing services, such as sign language interpreters or personal care attendants, needed to support an accommodation request.
  • Coordinate collection of required work releases and work restrictions for employee and client verification
  • Document all lost time days and modified duty assignments
  • Ensure that all elements of the return-to-work plan are in place, from equipment and services to assistive technology and job modifications.
  • Escalate cases for employees who cannot return to their previous jobs to obtain career counseling, training and job search or entrepreneurial skills.
  • Inform all relevant team members when the return-to-work program has concluded.
  • Monitor return-to-work progress, making changes as required.
  • Participate in the preparation of individual and group progress reports to management regarding status of employees with an accommodation.
  • Perform job analysis and other supports to maintain the integrity of the task bask
  • Perform required communication to stakeholders to advise of an employees work release and determine if any Fitness for Duty exam is required prior to the employees return to work
  • Properly close SAW/TRTW and RTW cases in RMX upon the employees Full Time Full Duty return to work or document the interactive process and rationale for delays in return or movement to a permanent accommodation. Accurately document and close the employees restricted days and send appropriate closure communication to required stakeholders.
  • Review changes in the employees' work restrictions and medical condition with the appropriate party, (STD Specialist, STD CCM, or MD), to ensure restrictions remain valid and medically necessary.
  • Use the information and suggestions to develop an effective return-to-work plan within appropriate guidelines and including a reasonable timeframe based upon prognosis and recovery times.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree preferably in Psychology, Human Services, Human Resource Management, Public Administration or other related field.
  • Demonstrates professional and operational knowledge of State and Federal Disability, ADA, ADAAA, FMLA and other appropriate laws.
  • Vocational, ADA and/or FMLA experience is highly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. 
  • Advanced organizational skills and analytical skills with the ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and proven interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Able to coordinate and manage several tasks/duties at the same time.
  • Able to weigh and evaluate several factors requiring judgment and problem solving.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of HRIS and timekeeping systems. 
  • Able to deal with all levels of employees within the organization.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology a plus

Salary Range: $22.60 to $39.11
