Description

The Environmental Services Associate cleans all aspects of assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, offices and equipment, to meet Facility and Department standards in order to promote the quality of care rendered in the environment.  They also move equipment, furniture, boxes, etc. and remove and hang blinds and curtains.

 

This is a Regular Full-Time position based out of Heritage Place.

By providing 24-hour skilled nursing and rehabilitation services each employee works to enhance residents’ quality of life. This UPMC Senior Community is nestled in the diverse and distinguished Squirrel Hill neighborhood of the city of Pittsburgh.


Responsibilities:

  • Assists with other environmental service functions as needed
  • Clean all assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices and equipment, following established procedures.
  • Cleans assigned areas
  • Collect resident's dirty personal laundry and sends laundry to contracted service
  • Collects dirty linen and sends to laundry.
  • Counts inventory and replenishes stock
  • Follow all safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, report problems to the supervisor.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in clean, working condition, reporting problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
  • Make beds, following established cleaning procedures in all residents' rooms.
  • Move equipment, furniture, boxes, wash walls, spot carpets, etc. as assigned.
  • Receives and distributes clean resident laundry to each residents' room
  • Receives clean linen and stock
  • Remove trash from all assigned areas.
  • Removes trash from assigned offices
  • Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations of assigned areas to assure adequate supply.
  • Report to the kitchen in serving uniform at designated time for each meal. . Serve meals according to the Food Service Guidelines Manual. Bus tables, removing all place settings, and sanitize tables and chairs after meals. Deliver trays to residents' rooms when necessary
  • Responsible for laundering residents' linens and facility uniforms and rags on a daily basis.
  • Stocks exchange linen carts for nursing units

 

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma/GED or one year previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED or successful completion of the 5-week EVS training program.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in order to successfully complete housekeeping duties.
  • Ability to use housekeeping equipment. 
  • May in the course of duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Older Adult Protective Services Act
