Provides overall administration and operation of the assigned nursing facility. Assumes responsibility for the planning, organizing, directing and controlling the delivery and quality care in compliance with the operational goals of Senior Living.


  • Accomplish and direct department managers to prepare revenue, expense and FTE budgets, monitor progress.
  • Achieve effective working relationships with the medical director and attending medical staff.
  • Analyze trends, develop action plans, and implement program objectives to achieve results.
  • Assist team in problem solving for optimum effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate regularly with the Regional Director of Operations.
  • Coordinate all programs, services and activities to ensure compliance with national, state and local regulations.
  • Delegate responsibilities to accomplish goals and promote a strong team approach among department managers.
  • Demonstrate the qualities and behaviors that support the mission, vision and values of UPMC Senior Living.
  • Develop and oversee a marketing plan for census goal achievement.
  • Effectively communicate with employees to ensure a productive work environment, conducive to excellent teamwork.
  • Ensure cost effective operation of all assigned areas through the development of productivity and budget goals measured against established levels of performance.
  • Establish an organizational goals and plans.
  • Establish and update facility operating policies and procedures pertaining to operations and resident care.
  • Establish working relationships with residents and families, coordinates family councils.
  • Exhibit sound judgment in decision making and operational effectiveness.
  • Follow established standards of care and quality management.
  • Initiate corrective action.
  • Maintain good communications with managers, employees, residents, family members, volunteers and community members.
  • Monitor compliance with regulations and standards to promote quality resident care and direct the actions of the quality improvement committee.
  • Monitor trends in human resource management and work effectively with the human resource function.
  • Perform and approve performance evaluations for assigned managers and staff.
  • Promote fair and consistent administration of personnel policies, performance appraisals and progressive discipline.
  • Provide administrative leadership to ensure the facility achieves objectives.


Bachelors degree required / Masters preferred-health care or related field Min three years of prior long term care experience Min two years of prior health care management experience. Clinical background preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current Nursing Home Administrator license

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Nursing Home Administration
  • Older Adult Protective Services Act
