Description

The Children's Advocacy Center of Lawrence County is hiring a part-time Child Resource Specialist!

The Child Resource Specialist monitors children providing a safe, supportive, and caring environment when parents and caregivers are participating in parents programming, parenting groups, support groups, educational groups, intervention groups, treatment, and therapy. The specialist works with staff, parents, and caregivers on resolving practical problems that interfere with program compliance. Also, the specialist when not monitoring children for delivery of services provides community education and support on topics related to healthy parenting, child abuse prevention, child development, social connections, strengthening families, parental resilience, supports, and reunification.

 

The Children's Advocacy Center of Lawrence County Inc., founded in 1989 is an accredited CAC. They operate 7 programs that serve the interest of the community by protecting children and strengthening families.

 

This is a part-time position and hours may vary. Most common hours are 8am-1pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with the children to enhance their learning.
  • Maintain communication with parents and contact parents in emergency situations.
  • Maintaining a safe environment.
  • Observe and monitor children's play activities.
  • Organize and participate in recreational activities, such as games.
  • Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, workshops and supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides community education, support, and outreach.
  • Read to children, and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs.
  • Sanitize toys and play equipment.
  • Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  • Supports administrative functions that encourage and support the care of children and families.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Experience in childcare settings, preferred.
  • Caring and compassionate attitude a must. 
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Ability to multi-task is essential. 
  • Able to take direction and work to develop skills. 
  • Ability to show empathy and patience. 
  • Comfortable with public speaking.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    Valid Pennsylvania Drivers License. Maintain proof a valid car insurance.
