The UPMC Revenue Cycle department is searching for their next Operations Analyst II to join their team!  Under the general direction of the Senior Director, Patient Access/Revenue Cycle, this role is responsible for analyzing and evaluation of clients' business environments.  They will also work with Information Services Staff, as appropriate, and client professionals to develop requirements for information technology solutions related to the business operations.  This role designs, develops, implements and supports solutions in both clinical and financial environments working with a broad spectrum of UPMC health system personnel.   • Assists with the design and documentation of business/system functional requirements in formats to facilitate the development of deliverables such as request for Proposals and/or Information, custom development efforts, project based planning documents such as scope documents and client services communication.
  • Assures quality of information technology solutions through business case and application level testing; validates test results to initial business needs
  • Design and document system level and end user level procedures to support business applications.
  • Develops information technology solutions in component based, custom development and/or package system environments
  • Evaluates and documents client needs and all aspects of business processes both operational and financial, including current process analysis; and proposed revisions to optimize business processes.
  • Protects the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and electronic measures.
  • Provide service according to the expectations of eRecord team policies/procedures and standards developed around the eRecord for client departments.
  • Works with ISD staff, clients and/or vendors to evaluate technology solutions including both packaged system solutions and custom development application and component development options.


  • Bachelors degree in health care, management, business, or a related field required. Extensive related experience will be considered
  • Minimum of two years of health care, business or IT experience required 
  • Strong computer skills required, with expert knowledge in Word, Excel and EpicCare/eRecord preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment a must
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences
  • Attention to detail is critical to the success of this position
  • Excellent planning, communication, documentation, organizational, analytical, and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively approach problem solving
  • Ability to re-engineer processes to positively impact productivity in terms of timeliness and accuracy
  • Knowledge and good understanding of all products and benefit designs of UPMC Health
  • Knowledge of clinical workflow and JCAHO and DOH regulations are preferred
  • Available to work overtime if required.

Salary Range: $22.60 to $39.11 / hour
