Description

Purpose:
Provides regular full-time applications programming development and maintenance functions for a variety of clinical and research projects. Defines requirements, develops and/or maintains computer applications/systems and providing services to meet business needs with deadlines. This position will be communicating data analysis to non technical users.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, write and debug programs under the operating systems for signal processing and time series data collection, management and analysis.
  • Independently evaluate and documents operational performance, diagnose issues/incidents, completes service requests/problem resolution for complex business systems or processes.
  • Provide direction to other staff regarding technical solutions to meet business issues and anticipate impact and propose solutions.
  • Research and analyze complex operational business process.
  • Select and recommend for purchase, computer systems to meet the guidelines.
  • Specify, develop and program a multi-user database system responsible for recording and storing information regarding sample locations, confidential subject information, test results and sample status sufficient to meet guidelines.


     

Qualifications

  • Typically has completed a four-year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering OR has acquired Core IT skills and knowledge via practical experience.
  • Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities.
  • Serves as lead resource for dealing with challenging technical or business issues.
  • Demonstrates prevention techniques to avoid repeat issues and crisis situations.
  • Applies advanced knowledge in a primary discipline and working knowledge in multiple relevant disciplines to create solutions for highly complex business situations.
  • Demonstrates success leading teams or collaborating with business partners and peer-level professionals from other IT specialties from UPMC or vendor or consulting organizations.
  • Establishes and refines the essential IT principles, departmental policies, procedures and analytical rules that guide their application in practical situations. *Higher education (Bachelors/Masters) may be required per Grants
