The Business Intelligence Lead on the Organizational Insights & Analytics team will build and maintain a platform to enable data-driven decisions for our users. This role will develop a deep understanding of UPMC's wide array of data and work with internal stakeholders to understand the opportunities for using this data to improve their results. Determine how best to use business intelligence technology to meet our stakeholder needs.


  • Create data definitions and standards for proper data use
  • Develop and support integration points between HCM Cloud, Oracle Analytics Cloud and Cognos
  • Develop complex reports from OTBI and BI Publisher
  • Ensure data accuracy and timeliness
  • Implement best practices in data visualization and information design
  • Improve our platform based on user feedback
  • Lead development of business intelligence platform (Cognos, OTBI, and Oracle Analytics Cloud)
  • Mentor Business Analysts and business users regarding when and how to use data sources and reporting tools



  • Bachelors degree in a related field preferred (computer science, information
  •      systems, etc.)

  • Three years of experience in HRIS or Information Systems required
  • One year of Human Capital Management experience preferred
  • Experience rolling out a business intelligence platform, including gathering
  •      business requirements, leading development effort

  • Deep knowledge of database design and logic (SQL)
  • Proven ability to extract high-impact business insights from data
  • Hands-on experience building reports and dashboard in consultation with
  •      business users

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate
  •      technical concepts to non-technical users

  • Experience creating data visualizations
  • Ability to build data transformation pipelines (ETL) and troubleshoot common
  •      issues with them

  • Ability to explore data sets and identify data transformation and data quality
  •      needs for targeted applications
