UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time Senior Product Manager  to help support the WorkPartners National Expansion Department for its downtown Pittsburgh location at the US Steel Tower. This is a Monday through Friday daylight position.

The successful candidate will develop strategies to create and/or acquire new products, services and capabilities to meet emerging market opportunities and further differentiate our existing product suite. Create and deliver a holistic, integrated, customer experience across multi-channel product, solution and service programs that will exceed expectations. Manage the product throughout the product development life cycle continuously evaluating and improving processes to utilize best practices for evaluating needs, define impacts, gather and prioritize business requirements, define product vision and how it integrates with overall WorkPartners strategy, working closely with sales and marketing, subject matter experts, developers, operations and finance to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are defined and met and we are delivering solutions that positively impact the overall health, wellbeing, productivity and operations of our clients.


  • Gather intel to assess market needs for new products/services. Capture business requirements and coordinate design of solution with sales, marketing, technology and client.
  • Ensure industry “best practice” process and procedures are the standard for each step of the product development life cycle and that these processes are independently verified, documented, tracked, measured and corporate the voice of customer to deliver high quality, highly rated solutions to WorkPartners clients.
  • Assess key market factors, including competitive landscape, consumer insights and unmet customer needs as input to innovative products, services and programs to meet the unique needs of targeted buyer subgroups.
  • Assist in leading the cultural transformation of the employees to create an environment that is customer centric.
  • Be able to clearly articulate the value proposition and brand promise of the segment in order to define and guide the development of all marketing materials.

  • Capture all requirements and incorporate into a seamless customer experience. Align to market segment needs.
  • Define the product strategy and roadmap for the segments.
  • Develop a multiyear customer experience strategy within program assignment.
  • Develop and support strategies to develop and/or acquire new product, services and capabilities to meet emerging market opportunities and further differentiate our existing product suite.
  • Develop, lead and implement the segments comprehensive, multi-channel marketing plan.
  • Direct product, market and customer research to qualify program development ideas and quantify business opportunity.
  • Effectively communicate concepts, design rationale and findings to the organization.
  • Ensure that the product and marketing efforts support the company's overall strategy and goals.
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative research projects in support of target audience creative and message development.
  • Participate in strategic communication planning for all product/service development initiatives.
  • Provide input to marketing on the design marketing tests including messaging, creative, channel, design and targeting.
  • Provide leadership to ensure execution on all segment strategies.
  • Solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strategically assist in the design and delivery of a holistic consistent customer experience.
  • Understand current product and service offerings and develop appropriate strategic changes to better manage the product for profitable growth.
  • Understand key macro trends, environmental forces and WorkPartners strengths and weaknesses and assess their impact to the project.
  • Understand the impact and create opportunities based on the health reform legislation on specific state opportunities.
  • Use our persona set, ideate and create contextual scenario design that will be used to drive business requirement scenarios.
  • Work internally with our channel leaders to provide product training and product consultation to ensure a value sales approach is achieved.


  • B.S. Degree required, Masters or MBA preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in health insurance, 3 years of management experience required,
  • Project Management or product implementation management will be considered.
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, including: Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI and Access as well as Internet Explorer
  • Self- starter with ability to deal with ambiguity and to adapt and embrace change
  • Exhibit cross functional leadership effectiveness in development and troubleshooting requirements to support large and customized offerings
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative thinker and problem solver ability to come up with new ideas and messaging concepts that meet current and future business objectives
  • Proven ability to drive results, lead cross-functional teams, influence others and foster collaboration

Salary Range: $39.48 to $68.17 / hour
