Provides patient care activities to Behavioral Health patients.

  • Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally (patient assessments, progress notes, etc.
  • Conduct group and individual programs.
  • Conduct staff meetings and ensure staff CEU requirements are met. Abide by Hospital and department polices and procedures.
  • Consults with other disciplines regarding patients' needs.
  • Evaluate all patients and establish appropriate goals and programs focused on the patient's needs.
  • Maintain statistical information monthly as well as dept. policies and procedures.
  • Order and maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Organize and implement group and 1:1 interventions.
  • Plan monthly calendar of patient groups offered.
  • Promote patient satisfaction by offering a recreational therapy program of groups based on the social, cognitive, leisure and spiritual needs of the patients served.
  • Serve on the Safety Committee. Maintain certification requirements.


  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field required. 
  • CTRS preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 31 Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management - CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
