The Process Consultant, Sourcing is responsible for leading UPMC's Supply Chain Management contracts, spend and product standardization activity related to merger and acquisition integrations across the business enterprise for its clients. As the Process Consultant, Sourcing, your job is to assess Client information and preferences for Clinical or Indirect or Pharmacy Sourcing categories for integration purposes. The Project Manager, Sourcing may work closely with UPMC Supply Chain Management leadership, Category Manager/Leads and other department leaders, to ensure that the scope and direction of each opportunity is on schedule.  

The position is located at the US Steel Tower in downtown Pittsburgh and  works standard business hours. At times, travel may exceed 50% primarily within the United States.

  • Actively gain copies of contracts, spend data, assess and summarize intricate corporate agreements for Client contracts and amendments.
  • Analyze Client contracts and spend to support the sourcing owners' optimization strategies.
  • Arrange for supplier provided training to the Client for products and services based on transition and integration needs.
  • Coordinate with the Client for posting of contract documents to their preferred contract management system.
  • Lead various cross-functional teams, including internal (Client Business Process Champion, Legal, Administration Information Services, and Clinical representation, etc.) and external resources (consultants or contractors, and suppliers, etc.) toward implementation of sourcing objective(s).
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current industry trends and product/service development through participation in professional associations and related professional publications.
  • Maintain expertise of current client business processes and technologies through engagement with the client's sourcing team.
  • Matrix reporting into the Engagement Process Consultant on project tasks, execution, and risks for each Client opportunity.
  • Present cost savings data with supporting detail on budget and staff impact of projects for leadership.
  • Time reporting in PPM and Travel expense management within appropriate systems. Excellent client-facing written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized and advanced time management skills.
  • Work closely with the Client's Legal department, as appropriate, to draft, develop, and finalize corporate agreements that limit Client's liability and clearly identify terms and conditions of said agreements.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field is required  
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) and Advanced degree (MBA) strongly preferred  
  • Five years of Healthcare, Project Management, Strategic Sourcing or Supply Chain experience required
  • Healthcare supply chain and contracting experience is preferred  
  • Must possess knowledge of industry standard project management tools, methods and reports for resource planning and other project management functions. 
  • Purchasing management designation/certification (CPM or APP) OR Project Management Certification preferred

Salary Range: $36.31 to $61.51 / hour
