UPMC Emergency Medicine is looking to hire an Emergency Medicine Physician.  The Physician hired will be a full-time UPMC employee working at UPMC South Urgent Care.


 What would I be responsible for/expect in this position?

  • Physician will treat patients in the Urgent Care to ensure proper injury care and disease diagnosis
  • Physician will work as part of a team with providers and other members of the staff
  • Take medical histories, examine patients, order diagnostic testing, interpret test results, make diagnoses and create treatment plan for patients of all ages
  • Physician must be able to evaluate a variety of acuity, think and act quickly to make a tentative diagnosis to create a treatment plan
  • Coordinate activities with other members of the health team in the administration of patient services
  • Refer patients to the hospital for further examination, diagnosis and treatment as medical condition may warrant
  • Perform minor surgical procedures including laceration repair, incision and drainage and foreign body removal
  • Perform splinting and casting for minor orthopedic injuries
  • Must document patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in a timely manner
  • Conduct follow up calls to patients; handle incoming patient, pharmacy or physician calls
  • Operate as a team alongside physician assistants, medical assistants, radiology technologists, clerical staff and management
  • Adhere to all clinical policies and protocols

  • Hours:  7am – 11pm
  • Location: 511 Clairton Blvd. Pleasant Hills, PA  15236
  • Regular – Full Time status

Additional services to be offered at this location
  • Laboratory: CBC, electrolytes, D-Dimer, troponin (plus the currently offered CLIA waived tests, but microbiology to be sent out)
  • IV care: fluids for mild/moderate dehydration, first dose of antibiotics
  • Orthopedic care: to include reductions of fractures / dislocations with sedation
  • Point of Care Ultrasound
  • Primary care: PCP feeder program, either on site or by preferred referral
  • Cardiac care: partnership with cardiology, with emergent consult and send out service as appropriate
  • Pharmacy: Limited retail meds for acute conditions, requires only a small closet

Qualifications

What would qualify me for the position?

  • Graduate of accredited medical school
  • Emergency Medicine experience preferred
  • Emergency Medicine Board Eligible/Board Certified
  • Must be qualified for a medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
