UPMC has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Manager, Network Engagement & Provider Communications. The Sr. Manager is the marketing intermediary between UPMC owned and affiliated hospitals and providers, and the health plan marketing and communications department. This position is responsible for the development of a collaborative, complimentary marketing strategy as well as overall provider communications including recruitment, engagement and education. 


This position reports to the Sr. Director, Government Segment Marketing, has one direct report who manages a team of three provider communications campaign managers. To succeed in this position, this person must be an excellent communicator, easily adaptable, a great team player, exceptionally organized, have strong presentation skills and have the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.


  • Acts as the primary liaison from marketing to develop and maximize UPMC provider system partnerships.
  • Attends and provides relevant updates at Steering Committee meetings, bi-weekly marketing meetings and tracks all relevant spend again annual budgets.
  • Develops overall provider communications strategy ensuring that all legal, regulatory and other requirements (i.e., NCQA, HEDIS, CAHPS) are met; Strategy must encompass three key areas of provider communications: recruitment, education and engagement.
  • Gains provider input and collaboration on all marketing strategies, projects and communications.
  • Provides regular updates on projects, ensuring expectations are being clearly defined and met.
  • Recommends alternative methods of marketing based upon competitive analysis, market performance, and identification of trends, data analysis and reporting.
  • Working with UPMC Health Plan marketing leadership and the marketing leads from UPMC provider system partnerships, develop collaborative and complimentary marketing and provider communication strategies and related action plans.



  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field.
  • Masters in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years progressively increasing marketing experience in a corporate/professional environment, preferably in healthcare.
  • Ability to manage multiple internal and external projects to achieve corporate goals and forge key relationships with provider system partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, plan and implement multiple and complex types of media/ marketing mixes.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work with the highest levels of senior management on strategic issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines concurrently.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Minimum of 25% travel required (PA)

Salary Range: $34.96 to $59.20 / hour
