UPMC Emergency Medicine serves as a recruitment and staffing resource for partner hospitals, provides continuing education opportunities to emergency health care providers, and runs a Prehospital Care Program that combines the educational resources of the University of Pittsburgh with the clinical expertise of UPMC.
UPMC Emergency Medicine has partnered with Somerset Hospital, to hire an Emergency Medicine Physician. The Physician hired will be a full-time UPMC employee working alongside Uniontown Hospital employees on a full-time basis.
The Department of Emergency Medicine provides Level II emergency care by a trained, board certified emergency physician 24-hours a day. This spacious 15 room department is staffed with critical care trained; ACLS and PALS certified nursing staff.
Population served includes members of the county, users of the county’s outdoor summer and winter recreational facilities and interstate travelers on the nearby turnpike and highways. Emergency care at this facility includes the immediate treatment of any medical or surgical emergency, the initiation of life saving procedures in all types of emergency situations and the provision of emergency care for chronic medical conditions and minor illnesses and injuries for patients of all ages. The Emergency Department has cared for over 30,000 patients in the past 18 months.
What would I be responsible for/expect in this position?
- Physician will treat patients in Emergency Room to ensure proper injury care and disease diagnosis
- Physician must be able to evaluate a variety of acuity, think and act quickly to make a tentative diagnosis and determine the appropriate course of treatment
- Physician will work as part of a team with providers and other members of the emergency staff
- UPMC focuses on physician wellness that includes staffing ratios of generally less than two patients per hour
- Regular – Full Time status
- Shifts: All Shifts and on call

Qualifications
What would qualify me for the position?
- Emergency Medicine Board Eligible/Board Certified
- Must be qualified for a medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
