In this position, one will operate a shuttle bus or a van on assigned routes, maintain documentation on rider-ship, conduct safety checks, and clean the vehicle. This person must be committed to establishing relationships with other UPMC employees to make their experience enjoyable. Shuttle Bus Operators must be punctual, customer-focused, and charismatic.

  • Maintain ridership information and report per company processes.  Maintain route standards and only stray from designated route with permission of management or law enforcement. 
  • Participates actively in maintaining cleanliness standards in bus's and UPMC facilities. 
  • Fuel vehicle according to company policy. 
  • Understands and monitors D.O.T. compliance.  Remain compliant with all regulations and guidelines established by the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), Driver License, Medical Card, Motor Vehicle Resource (MVR). 
  • Participates actively in maintaining cleanliness standards in bus's and UPMC facilities. 
  • Develop and foster a strong working relationship with all riders and co-workers. Provide the highest level of customer service to all passengers.  Demonstrate safe working and driving actions. 
  • Complies with all UPMC Employee Transit policies and procedures. 

Qualifications

  • High school graduate/GED or 1 year previous driving experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED
  • Deep understanding of transportation regulations and governmental policies related to transporting people required.
  • Strong customer service background.
  • Ability to manage change in a busy environment required.
  • Good driving record required
Licensure/Clearances:
  • Commercial Driver's License
  • DOT Medical Card Clearance
  • Passenger Endorsement 

Salary Range: $13.91 to $21.81 / hour
