Description

UPMC is dedicated to providing each patient with the right care, in the right way, at the right time, every time. Patient Care Technicians are essential partners in that mission, enhancing the patient experience at UPMC with positivity and integrity. Nursing support staff give personal care to patients with an emphasis on dignity and respect, striving to make each patient feel as comfortable as possible during their hospital stay. Patient Care Technicians also provide invaluable aid to nurses and doctors on the floor by completing important skilled tasks such as checking vital signs and glucose levels, performing EKGs and blood draws, and much more.

Magee-Womens Hospital is hiring a Flex Full-Time Patient Care Technician to support our Antepartum unit (2800). You will work between 24-36 hours per week. 2800 is a 28-bed high risk antepartum unit with a welcoming staff and a teamwork-focused environment. Our work includes non-stress tests, stent and cerclage placements, and wound debridement; we partner closely with the physician team to care for high risk pregnancies, preterm labor, C-sections, and methadone conversions, as well as delivered patients with infants admitted to the NICU and fetal demise mothers. Due to the nature of the unit, our patients can experience very high highs and very low lows, and are in need of uniquely compassionate attention and care; staff on 2800 must be empathic and stout of heart.

Patient care staff on Antepartum work on a rotating schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage. Availability for all shifts, including some weekends and holidays, is expected.
