UPMC is hiring a team of full-time Training Specialist to support the Training Department within the Community Care Behavioral Health/MetroPlus business unit. This is a Monday through Friday daylight role (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) and will be based out of New York City, NY. Regular travel will be required.

 

Behavioral health experience is preferred. Excellent communication skills are required.

 


Responsibilities:
  • Maintain database of contracts, facilities, resources and systems for registration and tracking of training activities and needs.
  • Assist in the planning and development of Community Care staff in-service training activities including orientation, scheduling and notification of trainings.
  • Participate in the design and development of educational presentations and training to providers, state and federal agencies, community groups and other parties in collaboration with appropriate Community Care management and front line staff, including the systems and procedures for implementing these presentations and trainings.
  • Maintain the schedule of relevant internal and external training and educational activities for Community Care and maintain both electronic and paper records of all training activities.
  • Represent Community Care at meetings, committees, and special task force work groups related to Training and Education.
  • Support the Training Team as needed.
  • Participate in designated committees, internally and in the community, in particular those related to recovery activities and practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, with emphasis on communication, data management, or human services. 
  • 3-5 years experience, with experience in a behavioral health related environment preferred with an emphasis on experience in recovery based activities. 
  • Knowledge of recovery systems.
  • Knowledge of managed care functional areas, including terms and definitions. 
  • Specific knowledge of recovery principles and best practices. Strong interpersonal and verbal skills. 
  • Detail oriented. 
  • Planning and coordination abilities. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Sensitivity to ethnic and cultural diversity. 
  • Ability to travel, with occasional out of town and/or overnight travel possible. 
  • Ability to form and maintain relationships with members of the provider community and advocacy community, in particular recovery based programs. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, both internal and external required. 
  • Responsive to deadlines with work completed on or before deadline 95% of the time. 
  • Demonstrate skills in the use of computer programs such as Excel, Outlook and management of electronic mail and filing.
