Family Medicine at Montoursville is looking for a Medical Assistant, Certified! This is a Full-Time position with up to 40 hours per week. Hours range Monday - Friday between 7:45am - 7:00pm. Saturday hours between 8:00am - 12:00pm will be required on a rotational basis. This position will be responsible for rooming patients, obtaining vitals, medication refills, stocking and cleaning rooms, etc. Experience working in Family Medicine is preferred! 

Assist physicians with various aspects of patient care (including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks) ensuring patient satisfaction. In addition to core Medical Assistant responsibilities, serves as lead person for team regarding day-to-day workflow issues or office procedures.

  • Attends routine meeting with staff to communicate procedural changes to improve service quality and patient safety.
  • Participates in implementation of department goals, processes and procedures. Assists with orientation of new staff members.
  • Relay instructions and education to patients per provider's instruction.
  • Document patient information into the medical record and adhere to all confidentiality requirements and policies.
  • Works directly with the manager to identify opportunities for improvement in regards to clinical/nonclinical functions, infection control procedures.
  • Serves as an office super user of EPIC Care as assigned.
  • Must attend competency training and be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in all practice category specific tasks from training. Includes but not limited to taking vital signs, medication and vaccine administration and passing medication test, CLIA testing collection of labs, TB skin testing, wound care and dressing change and other specific clinical functions (EKG, phlebotomy, ear irrigation) with training and perform clinical procedures according to policy an procedure.
  • Send and receive patient medical records in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
  • Obtain lab/xray reports, hospital notes, referral information. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
  • Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol, room patients and prepare for examination.


Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder, based on their individual experience and education
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant program, or a national certification from a national certifying organization (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) or graduated from a LPN or RN or EMT/Paramedics program (must have received and maintained their certification if EMT) required
  • Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Medical Assistant
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
