UPMC Susquehanna is seeking a full-time Office Assistant II to support Lawrenceville Primary Care and Lawrenceville Dental at their new 32 East Lawrence Road location in Lawrenceville, PA!

 

This individual is responsible for making and scheduling patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner, as well as assisting clients in person and on the phone, providing information, and communicating with various departments. 

 

Duties also include, but are not limited to, patient registration (check-in/check-out), obtaining prior authorizations, organizing referrals, working with electronic medical records, and other clerical/office tasks. The ideal candidate for this position will have previous administrative experience in a medical office and/or healthcare setting, as well as strong computer skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Verify necessary information and records in the medical record and computerized scheduling system. 
  • Prepare patient charts for upcoming appointments.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, such as encounter forms and referrals. 
  • Use computer system to generate information necessary for billing.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly waiting area, including beverage area and reading materials.
  • Answer questions regarding patient appointments and testing.
  • Greet and register patients in a polite, prompt, helpful manner.  
  • Provide any necessary instructions/directions. 
  • Inform appropriate department/person of visitor's arrival, performing appropriate check-in and check-out functions.
  • Assist with inpatient billing process.
  • Assist physicians with transcription and dictation issues/concerns, and review process for accuracy
  • Process medical records release requests.
  • Identify stock levels of office supplies and assist with ordering/inventory management.
  • Maintain and update current information on physician's schedules, ensuring that patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed.
  • Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages, and provide information in a courteous manner.
  • Schedule diagnostic testing and obtain insurance authorizations, verifications, and referrals in a timely fashion
  • Utilize appropriate modules of the automated financial management system for scheduling, information verification, entering charges, co-payment collection/ reconciliation, and other tasks.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patient appointments. 
  • Relay necessary messages to staff and providers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • Three years of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. 
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.  
  • Word processing and computer experience required.
  • Proficient computer skills highly preferred.
  • Previous experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) is a plus.

Salary Range: $14.98 to $22.48 / hour
