Description

The Geriatric Psychiatry Neuroimaging lab uses structural and functional MRI to study the brain changes associated with aging, and the disorders of aging. They use fMRI to relate the cognitive and affective symptoms in the elderly to the functional neuroanatomy. A central theme of their research is investigating the common underlying neural mechanisms of the components of the geriatric syndrome, including studying depression, mobility, and cognition.

The Research Specialist will assist with recruitment of subjects, screening subjects for participation, conducting assessments with the research participants, running MRI scans, and data entry. Additionally, they will assist with IRB submissions, progress reports, and data analysis.

This position is grant funded.

Purpose:

Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s). Collect and gather research data for research project.

Responsibilities:
  • Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).
  • Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.
  • Escort participants to MRI scans and PET imaging.
  • Data entry tasks.
  • Conduct study related visits independently with study participants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in psychology, neuroscience, sociology or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Act 34

Salary Range: $15.58 to $24.54 / hour
