The OB research department recruits patients for various pregnancy related studies and follows them throughout the pregnancy and often times for years beyond the delivery.

Some responsibilities of the Research Tech include but are not limited to; screen physician schedules for potentially eligible study participants, approach patients and recruit them for various studies, conduct study visits which could consist of interviewing patients, collecting bio specimens including blood, obtaining body measurements, obtaining vital signs, scheduling visits, data entry and chart abstraction.

The ideal candidate has some research and/or medical experience, is flexible, organized, able to multi task and comfortable speaking with patients and physicians.

This position is grant funded.

Under supervision, responsible for accurately performing research projects according to established study design and procedures.

  • Maintain a safe clean laboratory-working environment including appropriate equipment maintenance and usage, by conforming to laboratory and Hospital policies and standards.
  • Administer questionnaires, and assist with procedures for obtaining patient screening and recruitment as well as obtaining research specimens.
  • Assist in performing research protocol experimental procedures, under close supervision, including appropriate collection, recording, storage and analysis of data.
  • Prepare, label, store and dispose of reagents and calibrates equipment for research projects.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, including timely ordering and receipt of required supplies and their proper storage.
  • Assist in obtaining educational resources necessary to perform and interpret research and to remain abreast in research area of function.
  • Follow appropriate research policies and procedures including all applicable laws and regulations and maintain scientific integrity including accurate data storage.
  • Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • College degree preferred.
  • One year of college training or one year of experience working within a biomedical research laboratory environment.
  • Some research experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately collect, store and interpret research data.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients, staff and investigators.

Salary Range: $14.97 to $23.54 / hour
