University of Pittsburgh Physicians is currently hiring for a regular Full Time OP Nurse Coordinator I (RN) to support the Heart and Vascular Institute's (HVI) Electrophysiology (EP) team at the UPMC Mercy Hospital office located in Pittsburgh, PA.  

This position will work a Monday through Friday variable daylight schedule and may travel to other locations as needed.

The incoming EP Nurse Coordinator will support Physician and APP clinics and intermittently support HVI Outreach offices including working at these offsite offices, coordination of all patients at all sites to include the patients results, coordinating scheduling of procedures, providing in depth education for all tests/procedures, checking and interrogation of devices, managing remote devices

  • -Following successful completion of UPMC HVI EP Device training (performed at the Mercy office), the incumbent will interrogate ICDs and Pacemakers
  • -Interpreting the readings and providing clinical support for the physician, ensuring that each patient's device is functioning properly.
  • -Interpret trends over time and independently utilize her knowledge of devices and patient history and effectively communicate with the provider.
  • -Provide patient education on remote ICD/Pacemaker transmissions and equipment, medication education, procedure information and so forth at physician's discretion
  • -Serve as single point of contact for patients with EP questions and liaise between patient and physician
  • -Upon successful completion of EpicCare training, utilize EpicCare for all orders, documentation and charting; provide support for physicians in the EHR as well.
  • -Work with Cardiology Technician to ensure that all supporting documentation (i.e., device interrogation printouts, device worksheets, etc.) is present, completed correctly and charted correctly for each patient in each clinic.
  • -Triage all patient calls. Review records; gather all clinical information needed for physician to review call. Return patient calls or MyUPMC messages. Notify patients of test results, possible need for follow up testing and include patient education.
  • - Manage a large volume of remote cardiac transmissions that are received daily at our site.  
  • - Obtain authorizations for all testing ordered


  • Minimum 3 years nursing experience 
  • BSN preferred
  • Cardiology, Telemetry, and/or ICU/CCU experience preferred
  • EMR/Triage Experience preferred
  • Strong Assessment skills preferred
  • The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures. 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. CPR CertificationUPMC approved national certification preferred.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
