Description
In addition to performing imaging procedures at an advanced level, coordinates workflow, assists with projects and coordinates educational activities. Functions as a working technologist and distributes workload to ensure efficient operations.
Responsibilities:
- Has working knowledge of instrumentation and can troubleshoot issues concerning processes or workflow.
- Assures the maintenance of lab equipment, coordinating PM and repairs with BioTronics.
- Performs ultrasound diagnostic examinations in accordance with Level I and Level II Advanced sonographer.
- Monitors quality assurance projects and assists in the development of exam protocols along side of or in place of advanced sonographers and communicates results back to departmental leadership.
- Leads accreditation activities.
- Leads orientation and training for new hires, students and other medical personnel; ensures competencies are completed in the required time frame.
- Responsible for offering remediation with sonographers when necessary.
- Keeps current with industry standards and works with system partners to improve quality.
- Assists in talent acquisition interviews for successful recruitment of sonographer candidates and provides feedback for annual performance reviews.
- Assumes the leadership role in the absence of the supervisor.
- Coordinates daily workflow and schedule of the department while maintaining staffing levels based on, but not limited to, call offs, vacations, patient volumes, and training needs.
Qualifications
- Completion of formal training in an accredited ultrasound program or professional equivalent required.
- 3 years of ultrasound experience required.
- Experience in echocardiography strongly preferred.
- Performance review consistent with minimum of Strong/Solid performance on last performance review.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Registry Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 34
