Description

Under the general direction of the Senior Vice President the Chief Information Officer assumes responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating and managing the delivery of technology services at UPMC Pinnacle hospitals, Physician Practices, Clinics, and Outpatient/Ambulatory sites in accordance with the Corporate technology strategy and standards. Coordinates and assists in conjunction with other Information Services Division department leaders to deliver services to meet the customer needs at UPMC Pinnacle. Participates in business planning, bringing a current business unit knowledge and future vision of technology systems as it relates to UPMC Pinnacle?s clinical and business technology requirements. Determines long-term technology needs and develops overall strategy for technology services in alignment with Corporate Information Services Division standards and practices. In addition, ensures the delivery of high-quality services and monitors services levels. Oversees technology fiscal responsibility for UPMC Pinnacle.

Responsibilities:
  • Reviews current status and associated risk elements of UPMC Pinnacle technology programs, projects, services and components, including cost.Performs related tasks as assigned by the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer.
  • Responsible for ensuring standard quality control processes to increase productivity and decrease cost of product and service delivery.Protects the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and/or electronic means.
  • Responsible for developing UPMC Pinnacle Information Services operating and capital budget projections and assessing impact of those projections upon team objectives. Also, responsible for ensuring continued competitive operating leverages and efficiencies are achieved through economies of scale and skill.Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the technology service levels at UPMC Pinnacle in conjunction with the Corporate Information Services Division standard.
  • Actively participates in the Re-Imagining the UPMC Experience Initiative to improve the UPMC patient experience. In addition to developing an implementation plan, establishes and monitors the cost benefit analysis associated with UPMC Pinnacle technology initiatives.
  • Directs the assessment of the needs, related to staffing, programs, equipment, productivity tools, products, and services required to deliver requested solutions at UPMC Pinnacle. Ensures that the assessment and implementation of technologies and services is in alignment with Corporate Information Services Division standards. Oversees the recruitment, selection, training, and maintenance of a component staff to support UPMC Pinnacle. Leads employee engagement efforts to recruit and retain staff.
  • Assures alignment of the UPMC Pinnacle technology initiatives with the rest of UPMC technology solutions and goals. Establishes alignment with the centralized Corporate Information Services Division technology infrastructure related to telecom, network, and devices.
  • Communicates with all Information Services Division departments to ensure problem-free, on-time delivery of services and products to the customer while also following Corporate Information Services Division standards. Establishes alignment with Corporate Information Services Division technology stack, where appropriate.
  • Fosters a positive relationship and effective communication with customers, physicians, and employees at all levels within the organization, and the community. Understands and participates in appropriate community activities or initiatives to promote and market UPMC.
  • Provides technology direction and vision for all UPMC Pinnacle hospitals and sites through the smart and effective application of people, processes, and technology. Manages the creation, prioritization, and assignment of technology activities and services to meet UPMC Pinnacle customer needs.
  • Provides customer-oriented service to customer community and, wherever possible, to patients, families, and visitors.Be familiar with operations and business needs of UPMC Pinnacle hospitals, both administrative and clinical, client areas and how hospital IT services are used in and impact those areas.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and Masters (Preferred) in Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related area with 10-15 years of experience in managing health care information services, systems analysis, and software development or equivalents.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communications required for making effective presentations to management and clients.  
  • Leadership experience with health care Information Services and working with physicians required. 
  • Prior experience with budget responsibility, planning and strategy development, client management and personnel management is required. 
  • Extensive problem-solving experience and management of information services processes is required.
