Description

UPMC Health Plan has an exciting opportunity for a Large Markets Account Executive in its Marketing & Communications department, located in downtown Pittsburgh at the U.S. Steel Tower.

 

The Large Markets Account Executive is the lead point of contact for an assigned book of business that includes Health Plan commercial clients. The Large Markets Account Executive manages the renewal process, reviews financial and utilization reporting with the client, makes recommendations for future medical plan design changes, and cross sells other UPMC Insurance Services Division products and services. The Large Market Account Executive is responsible for maintaining the client relationship, development and execution of a strategic plan for his/her book of business, client satisfaction, and client retention.

Responsibilities:

  • Exercise good judgment in regard to alerting management of service and renewal issues that could negatively impact client retention.
  • Keep up to date with UPMC Insurance Services Division product knowledge as well as legislation that impacts our business..
  • Support the mission of the Health Plan's senior leadership.
  • Serve as a consultant to the client by analyzing utilization reports and working with the Clinical and Wellness account managers to identify areas of opportunity.
  • Meet metrics under the Reach for Excellence program on a consistent basis.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with internal staff.
  • Follow through on all client requests in a timely fashion.
  • Work in conjunction with the service consultants to ensure day to day issues are resolved.
  • Achieve growth through increased membership in accounts that offer UPMC Health Plan as an option, and cross sell other UPMC Insurance Services Division products and services.
  • Work effectively with the sales executive during the pre-sale process to ensure proper transition and new client implementation.
  • Maintain up-to-date information on book of business via Salesforce.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for assigned book of business.
  • Manage the client renewal process including review of alternative plan designs, and delivering employee open enrollment presentations, as needed. Also, ensure that schedules of benefits are correct and ID cards are released in time for members to receive them prior to effective date of coverage.
  • Deliver annual plan performance reviews to clients with insights and recommendations.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years successful group medical insurance sales and/or account management experience required.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain credibility in the market place.
  • Excellent organization and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work within a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to work with and take direction from Senior Management.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    PA Health and Accident License required within 90 days of hire.
