Purpose:

UPMC Community Medicine is currently hiring for a regular full time Professional Staff Nurse, OP (RN) to work with our Tri-Rivers Musculoskeletal Centers Physical Medicine Rehabilitation (PMR) group located in Buter, PA floating to the Cranberry/Mars office as well.

This position will work a regular Full Time daylight schedule Monday through Friday working four (4) ten (10) hour days.

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse is a member of the care delivery team. The Professional Staff Nurse is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Professional Staff Nurse has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of nursing care.  

The Professional Staff Nurse manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. 

The Professional Staff Nurse establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Professional Staff Nurse demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs basic triage. Assists providers in back office clinical duties including rooming patients, taking vitals and complete patient histories. Assists with minor in office procedures.
  • Provides complete documentation in Epic Care, selects and signs appropriate patient’s orders per provider verbal orders.
  • Assists with answering phone messages. Provides complete and accurate information to assist provider in answering patient messages. Clear and concise documentation is used and all messages are resolved in a timely manner.
  • General knowledge of DME, HEP and provides appropriate instructions to patients on these items.
  • Adheres to and follows policy and procedures for Urine Drug Screen program.
  • Assists with improving office flow by supporting other teams or departments as needed. Proactively adjusts processes to facilitate office flow and maintain office hours. Travels to satellite offices as needed.
  • Maintains exam rooms and Clinical work area. Keep the areas neat, clean and stocked with necessary supplies. Performs end of day room cleaning and processes and documents properly.
  • Assists with prescreening and discharging patients during fluoroscopy procedures.
  • Observes HIPPA privacy practices. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive patient information at all times.
  • Coordinates and executes chronic opioid therapy program. Prepares and conducts urine drug screens per physician order, tracks results.
  • Obtains specialty authorizations and coordinates with patients as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months experience preferred. 
  • BSN preferred.
  • EMR/Triage experience preferred
  • Outpatient experience preferred
  • Rehab experience preferred
  • The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures. 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. CPR Certification UPMC approved national certification preferred CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
