UPMC Cole is seeking a Supply Chain professional to Deliver equipment and supplies to customers as directed. Perform a variety of general, mechanical and preventative maintenance as well as inspections, servicing, repair and overhaul of equipment and company owned vehicles. The candidate will transport equipment such as oxygen systems, wheelchairs, beds, seat lift chairs to customers as directed. Perform all necessary equipment set up and customer instruction. Prepare delivery schedules for the pick up and delivery of equipment.   • Manage dispatch operations for the dispatch of medical specialty equipment, arrange transportation of specialty equipment between hospitals and track inventory closely. Dispatch of the shuttle bus system and collect required driver stats.
  • Ensures customer service levels are met by maintaining timely delivery (scheduled delivery time) at respective UPMC facilities and providing a quality product damage free in proper designated secure areas.
  • Ability to lift/push heavy objects from 75 lbs. up to 700 lbs. of medical equipment (on wheels) up ramps, to load/unload equipment onto trucks daily, to stand/kneel/squat for extended periods of time during equipment processing along with no work limitations.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the department's inventory and receiving modules by inspecting and verifying the accuracy of all inbound/outbound equipment.Utilize and follow proper technique in repackaging and/or staging of product for delivery to hospitals to ensure minimal product loss and damage.
  • Provide consultation to healthcare professionals (administration, nursing/medical staff, etc.) regarding implementation, application, operational and training on all standard and specialty medical equipment.
  • Adhere to, know, and enforce all hospital and department policies and procedures pertinent to the Fleet Transportation Group.Routinely responsible for swapping vehicles and scheduling them for preventative maintenance and detailing.
  • Accurately records information regarding daily transport requests, department user group complaints and employees reporting off from work on appropriate logs.Maintain a neat and clean work area.
  • Ensure returned product, equipment totes, and pallets are picked up and returned daily to the designated areas in warehouse.Utilize system technology for up to date record keeping of all work activities into computerized maintenance management system.
  • Maintain DOT regulated licensing requirements.Deliver product to hospitals operating 26' box trucks and maintaining all service records for SCM vehicles.Comply with all local, cities, and state traffic regulations while operating UPMC vehicles.
  • Provide superior customer service by communicating clearly, professionally and timely during all interactions (internally and externally) with customers, hospital personnel, patients, and visitors.
  • Manage all medical equipment to ensure proper maintenance by performing quality control checks, preventative maintenance, cleaning/sterilization techniques, and delivery/pickup preparation when servicing facilities.
  • Adhere to, know, and enforce all pertinent PA state policies and procedures that impact the Fleet Transportation Group.Fill in as a driver as needed.Knowledgeable about all safety, fire, evacuation, and disaster policies and procedures.Work well in a team environment with a shared vision and common goals.Travel between all UPMC facilities as required. Actively follow all UPMC system-wide and SCM departmental established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow set UPMC and Equipment Depot Infection control protocols and standards while adhering to all OSHA, HIPAA and compliance/regulatory guidelines as applicable.
  • Perform telephone communication responsibilities in a professional and courteous manner.Distribute work assignments in an equitable, accurate, and timely manner.Monitor shuttle routes and responsibilities in an accurate and timely manner.Log both routine and unusual information on the Daily Dispatcher Report.


  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year supply warehousing experience and/or experience driving a box truck.
    • OR High school diploma and two years of experience with logistics or in dispatching buses, taxis or Less-Than-Load (LTL) freight.
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant/related field of study.
    • OR Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to communicate professionally with various user groups is required.
  • Ability to handle heavy material using manual and mechanized material handling equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate and drive a vehicle including a 26' box truck.
  • Ability to obtain DOT Medical Clearance Card is required.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts that include days, nights, weekends, holidays and on call rotations to support 24/7 operations.
  • Proficient computer skills as required to operate a Maintenance Management System and common office software including but not limited to MS Office, Excel, access and word.
  • May in the course of their duties have access to medications through distributions of supplies and parental solutions in secured areas. No contact with medications is allowed.
