The EVS Team Lead position provides example setting leadership and training to subordinates and provides supervisory support to the EVS leadership team. In this role the EVS Team Lead will supports the goals of the EVS department by ensuring standards of cleanliness, productivity, and accountability are maintained, safe work practices are enforced, and positive customer engagement strategies are implemented in all areas of UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital.


  • Work independently and with EVS associates to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained in all assigned areas of the hospital.
  • Answer 24 hour department phone in a courteous manner, answer questions, ask clarifying questions, and assign tasks to appropriate staff. Report problems and escalate matters to the shift supervisor as needed.
  • Assist in the management of the bed throughput process by dispatching cleaning request, monitoring staff productivity against department established benchmarks, hold staff accountable for compliance, and assist with room turnovers during high volume. 
  • In the absence of the shift supervisor, temporarily act in a supervisory capacity. Perform quality assurance inspections, service recovery, hands on training, attend meetings, and complete monthly employee engagement rounds; Demonstrate UPMC Values in all interactions, enforce department/organizational policy, and work collaboratively with all hospital departments to meet needs. 
  • Ensure all team members are assigned to an area, adjust staffing to meet hospital or department needs, provide job specific equipment, tools, and cleaning supplies.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Comply with all Hospital/Department policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work the following shifts based on department needs:1pm-9:30pm, 2pm-10:30pm, or 3-11:30pm

·         Microsoft Office Suite

·         Teletracking Experience (Preferred)

·         Attention to detail, active listening, and self-directed



HS Diploma/GED preferred 2 years relevant experience required

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 with renewal
