UPMC Cancer Center is currently hiring an EMR Scribe for the Regional Cancer Center in Erie, PA.

This individual will work directly with the physician to provide documentation and secretarial assistance.

  • Document clinical history in office and complete EMR documentation for Physician until it is ready for the Physician to sign off.
  • Instruct patients about physician orders, medication and testing procedures according to physician instruction.
  • Make patients comfortable while in the office.
  • Edit consultation reports and dictations, correct any misspellings and grammatical errors.
  • Complete forms for physician to review and sign off.
  • Help physician communicate with the patients, visitors, outside medical facilities.



  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
  • Must have the ability to communicate with patients; listening to symptoms/complaints and effectively give patients instructions and explaining procedures.
  • Must have the ability to relay information to co-workers and physicians.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate required and must be maintained. Must obtain BCLS certificate no later than 90 days after hire.
