Description
Vigilant and highly responsive, Monitor Techs provide continuous surveillance of patient cardiac monitors—sometimes many at once—and immediately notify appropriate nursing staff of any change or life-threatening disrhythmia observed. Monitor Techs float to all areas of the hospital to place and scan Holter monitors and perform EKGs.As a Monitor Tech, you will complete a brief medical history for each patient, and practice transparency by communicating the nature and purpose of examinations in terms the patient can understand. In addition to playing a crucial role in patient safety, you will also be responsible for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, scheduling of exams, inventory, and billing.
UPMC Jameson is currently hiring a Full Time Monitor Tech to cover all shifts at our New Castle, PA location. Shifts will be 8 hours and 12 hours, and will rotate between days, evenings, and nights.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with coordinating transfers.
- Notify Primary Care Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor or Charge Nurse of changes.
- General Secretarial Duties.
- Provide copy of shift summary and send to appropriate unit of remote monitored patients.
- Utilize monitor pause to ensure right monitor, right patient, and right room.
- Placement of, or send to appropriate remote unit, daily monitor renewal labels.
- Daily monitoring charge in Star system.
- Cardiac monitoring.
- Interact with families and visitors.
- Assist with discharges.
- Interpretation of cardiac rhythms.
- Answer Telephones and deliver messages.
- At the end of 3-11 shifts, send the past 24 hour record to the appropriate unit of remote monitored patients.
- Documentation of rhythms by printing end of shift strips, include shift summary and changes.
- Assist with tear down of discharge charts.
- Verbally report to incoming ICT.
- Assist with transcription of orders if skill level permits.
- Communication, internal and external.
- Basic Rhythm interpretation Interpret of hemodynamic monitoring Interpretation and intervention of arterial blood gas results
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
