Description

Do you have experience working with large data sets in the healthcare industry? Are you eager to grow in your career with UPMC? UPMC Corporate Finance is hiring a Financial Analyst, Senior to support the Medicare Finance team during
business hours at the US Steel Tower. 

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible to assist with the annual budgeting process, monthly forecasting, complex financial analysis and financial modeling, identification of key metrics, operational/financial reporting and ad hoc requests. The successful candidate will proactively identify and analyze key drivers and cost trends to “tell the story” through insightful analytics. This role will have the opportunity to communicate and interact with multiple departments and varying levels of UPMC personnel, including highest senior level executive management. The candidate must be an effective team player who contributes valuable ideas and feedback and can be counted on to meet commitments.

Responsibilities:
  • Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Develop financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
  • Perform complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data reported.
  • Act as a mentor for Financial Analysts or administrative staff.
  • Analyze complex financial data and extract and define relevant information; interpret data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability.
  • Interpret financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.
  • Plan and conduct complex studies to determine cost of business activities. Recommend budget adjustments, and other cost improvement measures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related business field required.
  • Minimum of three years of related work experience required. 
  • CPA/MBA preferred.
  • Experience working with large data sets and have excellent computer skills with Microsoft product, especially Excel and PowerPoint is preferred.
  • SQL, TOAD, Power BI, Access, and other statistical software experience preferred.
  • Health insurance and/or healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently, manage workload, as well as work as an effective team member.
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to think critically and problem-solve.
  • Microsoft office with emphasis on spreadsheet application required and PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency preferred.

Preferences:

  • Medicare Experience

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPA/MBA preferred.
