ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is hiring a full time Advanced Patient Care Technician to help support the CVICU at our McCandless location.
About the CVICU: The CVICU is a 16-bed cardiovascular unit. We care for patients that have had open heart surgery and thoracic surgery. We also see patients post vascular procedures, post cardiac catheterizations and ablations. We work closely with surgeons, cardiologists and Pulmonary Partners to give our patients the best care.
As APCT on this unit, you will work in a dual role as a patient care support worker and a unit-based support worker. You may at times help with administrative work including scheduling and patient service.
Patient Care Technicians are essential partners in that mission, enhancing the patient experience at UPMC with positivity and integrity. Nursing support staff give personal care to patients with an emphasis on dignity and respect, striving to make each patient feel as comfortable as possible during their hospital stay. Patient Care Technicians also provide invaluable aid to nurses and doctors on the floor by completing important skilled tasks such as checking vital signs and glucose levels, performing EKGs and blood draws, and much more.
This position requires at least 6 months – 1 year of Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or Health Unit Coordinator experience for consideration. The shift requirements for the Advanced Patient Care Technician position are rotating shifts, 12 hours in length, including weekends and Holidays.

· CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire ACLS preferred
· Act 34 Criminal Clearance
· Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
