Description
Purpose:
Under the general direction of the management team and senior staff, this intermediate level position provides experienced analytical services, defines requirements, assures the quality of applications and the adherence to department standards, and provides services to meet client IT and business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide service to ISD client community, patients, families and visitors, while protecting the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and electronic measures.
- Review software engineering activities to verify compliance to department standards for both packaged system solutions and custom development applications.
- Participate in project reviews.
- Assist JCAHO teams to verify IT compliance to the JCAHO checklist.
- Assist teams in the documentation of operation concepts according to the customer's perspective the operation's concept includes documentation of the current work flow, justification for change and the proposal for the new system, including use cases and high level requirements.
- Develop and execute application load tests for both packaged solutions and internally developed applications.
- Verify product traceability at each project milestone, verifying that each stage is traceable to the Requirements and the RFP.
- Execute project build instructions to verify that a non-project member can build the release solely from the instructions.
- Assist/consult with programmers in their development of unit test and integration test development.
- Develop and execute automated regression tests for both packaged solutions and internally developed applications.
- Review and test disaster recovery plans both for packaged system solutions and custom development applications.
- Additionally, this position may be required to maintain a stand by status as part of a rotation within the team. This requires 24 hours per day, 7 days per week availability during the stand by period. The frequency varies based upon the number of colleagues in the rotation.
- Audit designated software work products for both packaged system solutions and custom development applications to verify compliance to department standards.
- Document organizational processes and maintains the organization's process database.
- Document system test plans, test cases, test procedures and test summary reports for both packaged solutions and internally developed applications.
- Provide support as required by ISD's Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Monitor, evaluate and where appropriate transfer processes, methods and tools to other parts of the organization.
- Acquire current industry knowledge and trends, attends education events and acquires applicable certifications.
- Perform application system tests to verify that applications comply with requirements.
- Assist security teams in the verification of project compliance to security plan and security standards.
- Develop project software quality plans.
- Establish and maintain defect tracking system and tracks reported defects to closure for both packaged solutions and internally developed applications.
- Research both UPMC IT standards and external standards, such as HIPAA, to verify compliance of both internally developed solutions and purchased package solutions.
- Coordinate training for the organization's software processes.
Qualifications
- Typically has completed a four-year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering OR has acquired Core IT skills and knowledge via practical experience
- Demonstrates thorough understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of one of the information technology professional disciplines (i.e., Applications, Business Analysis, Customer Service, Data, Networking, Operations, Security, Systems Engineering, etc.) and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a particular UPMC department or function
- Must meet IT Career Level Criteria for Individual/Team Contributors outlined in the Universal Criteria Leveling Guide

- Epic
- Quality experience
- Ability to navigate reports within EHR
- Icarol and psych consult along with Cognos reporting and all first net applications
