Description


Maintain, repair, and install mechanical, structural and electrical equipment and systems in a support role to the department journeymen level craftsmen. This position is responsible for general maintenance tasks in the various maintenance department shops, on/off road vehicle operation, snow removal and any other tasks deemed necessary.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a role model of service excellence for the institutions by providing quality services that are responsive to client needs, proactive in scope and accessible in nature. Using the Basics of Service Excellence as a guide, respond to the needs of individual patients, employees, department or other organizations with courtesy, respect and a positive outlook that reflects the team effort of the department.
  • Perform outside litter control and general clean-up.
  • Record personal work orders and submit hours on a daily basis.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
  • Cycle and emergency maintenance of light bulbs and ballasts.
  • Occasionally lifting weights up to 100 lbs.
  • Perform snow removal.
  • Adheres to the Basics of Service Excellence in all interactions with clients and the public.
  • Perform all work following infection control procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary.
  • Responsible for setting-up appropriate level of infection control containment (ICRA) based on risk level and maintaining the integrity of that containment.
  • Maintain safety pertaining to electrical devices.

  • Basic knowledge of electricity. Basic knowledge of carpentry/hardware repairs. Be able to replace ceiling tiles.
  • Performs general maintenance and demolition work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains a positive outlook and interactions with co-workers, which contribute to the team effort of the department.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. 
  • Basic computer skills preferred.  
  • Knowledge of City, State and Federal codes.
  • Trades school a plus. Carpentry, plumbing or mechanical skills beneficial. 
  • Need to have mechanical aptitude to assist various trades.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • OFSA: Act 73 Department of Aging Clearance is required and must be obtained within 90 days if not a resident of Pennsylvania for 2 years prior to hire.
