Government Program Specialist, Pharmacy Services

Description

Purpose:
Maintain direct accountability for reporting, compliance, financial analysis, and planning and coordination of efforts with other departments to assure effective operations of the Pharmacy Department. Support all other Pharmacy needs for other Health Plan functional departments associated with government oversight.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design and implementation of training and development programs.
  • Coordinate the timely completion of all government-required reports, questionnaires, and surveys.
  • Inform and advise the Manager of Pharmacy Services of current trends, issues, problems, and activities in functional areas, and develop and implement appropriate interventions to facilitate problem resolution and policy making.
  • Interact extensively with internal and external customers to build and maintain positive relationships supporting business goals and objectives; act as departmental liaison.
  • Work closely with Pharmacy Operations to assure accurate formulary information and policies are communicated and implemented by the Pharmacy Benefit Manager.
  • Develop and maintain an organizational framework that supports all government programs of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Ensure operational performance within the Pharmacy call center that assures regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in business, health care, management, or related field OR equivalent experience (4 years) required
  • 2 years of experience in managed care plans or compliance required
  • Prior pharmacy experience preferred
  • Prior analytics experience preferred
  • Experience in Pennsylvania programs strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as above average analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Experience working with Microsoft Excel is preferred
  • Prior data manipulation experience is preferred
  • Strong leadership skills and independent decision-making ability essential
