Job Description/Summary/Objectives: Pinnacle Health Medical Services seeks a Physicist, Radiation Oncology to provide high quality medical physics to patients requiring radiation therapy through state-of-the-art technology.  Under the supervision of the Chief, Medical Physics, directs all clinical physics activity in the department of radiation oncology.  Work location:  Carlisle Regional Cancer Center, 25 Sprint Drive, Carlisle, PA  17015.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for the development and management of new technologies and treatment modalities

  • Provides consultative services to the radiation oncologists regarding patient treatments at the Center

  • Assists in supervision of all medical dosimetrists in the Department including satellite facilities.

  • Occasionally performs treatment planning for 3D conformal and VMAT modalities using Eclipse TPS

  • Performs SBRT/SRS treatments including acquisition and analysis of 4DCT.

  • Oversees special procedures (SBRT/SRS, DIBH) 

  • Calibrates treatment machines to assure accurate delivery of radiation treatments.

  • Oversees Quality Assurance program, inspection, and accreditation program to ensure the standards for JCAHO, ACRO, DEP, and NRC are maintained.

  • Participates and reviews QA programs to assure continued accuracy of treatment delivery.

  • Performs acceptance testing and commissioning for new equipment and dosimetry devices.

  • Measures all beam data required for treatment planning systems.

  • Performs weekly chart checks.

  • Proficient in Aria electronic record/data systems.

  • Supports and participates in clinical research activities.

  • Completes periodic QA of treatment planning systems to insure data integrity.

  • Implements physics services for the Brachytherapy program.

  • Coordinates handling and loading of Brachytherapy sources.

  • Supervises the delivery of High Dose Radiation (HDR) Brachytherapy treatments.

  • Monitors Brachytherapy QA including source strength verification.

  • Develops and revises clinical physics policies and procedures as needed or required.

  • Supervises the selection and maintenance of equipment.

  • Assists in data acquisition and analysis and other activities related to clinical research projects.

  • Coordinates activities related to amending and renewing the system’s radioactive materials license with the UPMC Pinnacle Radiation Safety Officer.

  • Works collaboratively with all staff involved in the delivery of radiation therapy.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications and Licensure/Certification:

  • Masters’ degree in Physics, Radiation or Medical Physics, or related area of study (or foreign degree equivalent);

  • 5 years’ experience as a Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology

  • Must have two years of experience managing physics (radiology) clinical activities;

  • Experience in implementation of QA programs
