Supervisor,Patient Svcs Coord

Description

Purpose:
Supervises the Medical Assistant(s), including Lead Medical Assistants, Patient Service Coordinators and can competently fill in for those positions.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the organization of daily schedule of patients, greeting of patients and assignments of rooms.
  • Resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refers others to the appropriate management official.
  • Instructs employees, including on-the-job-training, in specific tasks and job techniques and makes available written instructions, reference materials and supplies.
  • Maintains a safe and attractive environment while meeting all JCAHO/DOH requirements.
  • Is competent in providing medical and nursing support services, ex; assessment, patient education, laboratory services, phlebotomy, EKG, emergency care as appropriate.
  • Approves and monitors medical and non-medical supplies and equipment purchases.
  • Provides leadership to the staff; ensures positive physician/staff relations; conducts annual performance evaluations on subordinate staff.
  • Ensures deadlines and milestones are met. Refers problems and backlog conditions to Manager for assistance.
  • Is courteous in accepting other job duties as assigned.
  • Properly supervises the Medical Assistant(s), including Lead Medical Assistants, Patient Service Coordinators and can competently fill in for those positions.
  • Exhibits responsibility for the management of patient care areas, equipment and the ordering of supplies.
  • Cooperatively and knowledgeably assist in the development of policies, protocols, or procedures and reviews them annually.
  • Exhibits skill in developing and providing training to Medical Assistants and Patient Service Coordinators.
  • Intercedes with the Manager on behalf of the team to inform the Manager of performance management issues/problems and to recommend/request relate actions such as: assignments, reassignments, promotions, changes, peer reviews and performance appraisals.
  • Serve as coach, facilitator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members.
  • Immediately reports any situation that may impact safety of patients, visitors and staff.
  • Monitor and report on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to ensure Management instructions have been met.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary activities such as staff meetings and other committees as assigned
  • Accurately and thoughtfully assesses and communicates the strengths and developmental opportunities of employees, based upon their individual performance, contributions to the team, and relevant performance as compared to their peers. Complies with all relevant policies and is timely with respect to staff performance evaluations.Provides consistent feedback to the employee regarding the patient/family and customer experience and coaches on how to improve throughout the performance period.Raises the standard of performance each year within the organization.
  • Monitors working conditions (i.e., lighting, safety, noise levels, etc.).
  • Maintains competency requirements.
  • Proficiently works under the supervision of the Manager; collaborates on quality of care issues, budgetary needs, and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct patient care and or phlebotomy experience.
  • Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with individuals from multi-disciplinary groups.
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills, Medical Records, Epic, Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Front Office Experience preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy licensure preferredCPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
