Description

Purpose:
Perform technical and specialized work involved in the administration of welfare benefits via the PeopleSoft Human Resource Information System. Interpret and ensure compliance with laws, contractual arrangements and corporate policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Take part in major projects in the benefits area to redesign current programs, processes, and recommendations of new programs. Make revisions to programs currently being used to ensure program compliance with legal requirements.
  • Assist in cost analysis for adding or changing benefit plans and/or contribution strategies.
  • Work with management to implement and conduct open enrollment program.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the company's benefits programs via PeopleSoft, the Human Resource Information System. Perform tasks related to administrative benefit programs such as medical dental, (IRS Section 125), COBRA, FMLA, disability, life insurance, and other associated benefits as available for 30,000 staff members, doctors and management.
  • Work with Human Resource representatives to train and provide guidance on PeopleSoft system functions such as terminations, leave of absences, new hires, etc.
  • Utilize PeopleSoft to generate management reports related to benefit deductions, eligibility, enrollments, confirmations, event maintenance, plan statistics, etc. Apply knowledge of system when researching and correcting system errors.
  • Assist in the development, design and communication of benefit procedures and programs.
  • Process and pay monthly/quarterly benefit invoices. Coordinate with TPA/Accounting/Payroll to ensure premiums paid are accurate and timely.
  • Interact with and advise employees via Employee Service Center on a range of benefit questions and concerns. Assist with the implementation and on-going maintenance of employee self-service system.
  • Establish processes that are efficient and effective in delivering quality service to customers. Assist in the design and administration of health and welfare plans.
  • Identify benefit plan design needs and works with broker and vendors on improvement and/or addition of benefit plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required.
  • Three years of experience in employee benefits and/or retirement required.
  • Thorough knowledge of computerized Human Resource Information Systems, specifically PeopleSoft, HEAT, COBRA system and tuition database required.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) preferred.
