UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a flex full-time Program Coordinator to support the Girls on the Run Program! The Program Coordinator will support the successful delivery of GOTR programming and events throughout Magee’s council territory through all communications and marketing channels.

This position will sit at the Gulf Building (327 Craft Avenue) in Oakland. It is a flex full-time position, with an average of 30-35 hours per week and full-time benefits. This role is primarily daylight hours, but will be required to work evenings and weekends periodically for events and other activities. Additionally, travel is required for this role, as the Program Coordinator will visit different site locations and special events within eight different counties. Travel is primarily most common March through May and September through November.

This individual will coordinate with the Program Manager and the GOTR team on all aspects of communications, marketing, and public relations for the Girls on the Run program. This includes, but is not limited to, designing and ordering of print and promotional materials, tabling at events, managing social media for the program, and creating and implementing all promotions for the GOTR 5K events, CAMP GOTR, fundraising events, and national and local campaigns. 

This position also provides for internal and external communications, as well as related community outreach activities for all eight counties within the franchise agreement. The Program Coordinator develops local partner and sponsor relationships while adhering to the national sponsor and branding guidelines, and leads all SoleMates peer-to-peer fundraising activities. Other duties also include scheduling and participating in site liaison trainings, coach trainings, meetings, Information sessions, walks, and employee activities at Magee-Womens Hospital.   

The ideal candidate for this position will have previous experience with social media management and content creation, marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design, and/or event planning experience. This is a physical role, as well, that may require lifting heavy materials and transporting materials to various site locations.

*The Gulf Building does not have an elevator. This position will sit on the second floor of the building.*

*There will be occasional opportunities to work from home, sometimes up to 25-50% of the time.*

  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Strong group management and facilitation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills necessary to effectively communicate goals and objectives.
  • Interest and experience in physical fitness, personal training, etc.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with girls, parents, coaches, senior management, school or facility personnel, community leaders, and other key constituents.
  • Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.
  • Responsible for cost effective and quality purchases and equipment for GOTR programming and events.
  • Develop, implements, and tracks quality measures and standards for the program.
  • Responsible for complying with all Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance of operations with federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting agencies by interpreting the law to clinical practice.
  • Collaborates with Program Manager and other appropriate Magee and MWRIF staff to implement program objectives, develop new programs, market opportunities, fundraising, grant writing, event planning, etc.
  • Develops and maintains key external relationships with community, businesses, and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center integral to achievement of the program's objectives.
  • Coordinates with Corporate Marketing/Communications and third-party graphic and web designers, and implements, as appropriate, all marketing/communications strategies and initiatives necessary to meet identified budget and registration goals.
  • Assists Program Manager with recruiting, hiring, training, and performance of coaches locally and regionally.
  • Provide annual research and data for effective development management of annual volume projections (registrations) related costs/revenues and program scholarship funds.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining business and program objectives as defined in all grants and sponsorship agreements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Physiology, Psychology or Sociology. 
  • Two to five years experience in a health, fitness, or social service organization. 
  • Experience in project management, implementation, and evaluation. 
  • Successful demonstration of the completion of the competencies required by the department/unit. 
  • This individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the clients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. 
  • They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the client's status.
  • Interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each client's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and provide the care needed as described in the department's policy and procedures.
  • Previous experience with social media management and/or content creation, marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design, and/or event planning highly preferred.
  • Exceptional written communication skills highly preferred.
