University of Pittsburgh Physicians is seeking a full-time Credentialing Coordinator to support the UPMC Credentials Verification Office at Forbes Tower in Oakland!

The Credentialing Coordinator processes applications and performs primary source verification for applicants to the facilities and organizations of UPMC, as well as for reappointment and recredentialing for healthcare practitioners who are members of the facilities and organizations of the UPMC. Duties for this position also include, but are not limited to, maintaining current and accurate databases of credentialing information, communicating via phone and email to perform verification duties, performing extensive Internet searches for verification duties, and other data entry and clerical tasks (scanning, etc.).

The ideal candidate for this position will have proficient computer skills, specifically with typing/data entry, Internet search functions, and email correspondence. A strong attention to detail and an exceptional work ethic are vital functions to this role, as well. 

  • Completes files efficiently, according to policy and within the established standards and guidelines.
  • Performs data entry and scans accurately and efficiently according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assists with database integrity and maintenance.
  • Performs primary source verification, records information received, and provides follow-up as necessary according to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintains excellent communication (verbal, written, and electronic) with all customers of the CVO including, but not limited to, the practitioners and the entity users.
  • Processes applications expeditiously and efficiently according to the established priorities and timeframes.


  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Excellent data entry and computer software application skills required, and must have a desire to maximize the use of technology to automate processes.
  • Detail-oriented person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Prior credentialing experience preferred.
  • Experience with both JCAHO and NCQA (accreditation organizations) standards preferred.
