About the Program

The UPMC Marketing/Communications – Corporate/Clinical Summer Program is an 11-week, paid internship. As an Intern, you will have the opportunity to work in one of the below specialized areas of Marketing/Communications. These teams collaborate and interact to introduce, reinforce, and maintain the UPMC brand as well as promote UPMC’s mission on a local, regional, and national level. Areas in the UPMC Marketing/Communications – Corporate/Clinical division includes:

Clinical Marketing – This team works to develop comprehensive, strategic marketing plans to promote the UPMC brand as well as UPMC’s clinical excellence, world-class medical services and innovative research capabilities. Responsibilities may include project management, research and content development for marketing tactics such as digital, social, and print advertising, websites, direct mail, and other collateral. Clinical marketing teams may interact with academic and hospital professionals, physicians, researchers, and patients.
Marketing Strategy and Intelligence - This team utilizes consumer research and market and business data to mine and uncover insights to best inform objectives and strategies for marketing clinical lines of care. These insights are determined using surveys/polling, focus groups, competitive creative and media reviews, and HIPAA-compliant internal and external sources. Insights are compiled and presented regularly to internal staff as to identify opportunities and improve communications to patients and consumers.
Business Development and Clinical Partnerships – This team works to procure relationships and partnerships with other clinical institutions nationwide in order to grow revenue and volume for select service lines within UPMC using strategies such as B2B marketing, physician and clinical leadership communications, digital and social marketing campaigns, and research and analytics.
Digital Strategy – The two areas of Digital Strategy, Digital Media and Search Engine Optimization/Content Marketing, work closely to analyze and optimize the overall digital presence of UPMC while achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), increasing digital presence, improving rankings, and following best practices for metadata, content audits, and more.
Digital Marketing/Web – Coordinating for other Marketing/Communications teams and UPMC service lines, this team edits, updates, and adds impactful content to their web presence. This includes assisting in the planning, development, and launch of web-based promotional and marketing programs tmeet UPMC’s business objectives.Insert or remove numbered list

During your internship program, you will have the opportunity to network with UPMC Executives, receive mentorship, enhance your skills with hands-on real-world experience and training, and most importantly, work on projects that make an impact on patient care while gaining knowledge on how we provide Life Changing Medicine. • Current Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a target graduation date between December 2019 and August 2021 required
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher required
• Availability to participate as a Summer Intern full-time from June to August 2020 for approximately 11 weeks with minimal absence (Yes, don’t worry, you can still enjoy some summer vacation time!)
